Who is CEBT for?

It was initially developed by Dr Emma Gray (nee Corstorphine) for individuals suffering from Eating Disorders but has since been used to help people experiencing a whole range of problems relating to the experience and expression of emotions including Anxiety, Depression, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Low Self Esteem and Anger problems.

How Does CEBT Work?

CEBT combines aspects of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and is frequently used as a ‘pre-treatment’ to prepare individuals for the often emotionally challenging experience of therapy.  The core components of Cognitive Emotional Behavioural Therapy include education about emotions and their function, techniques to increase awareness of emotions and confidence in dealing with them, motivation to change long standing and unhelpful ways of dealing with emotions and strategies to restructure beliefs about the experience and expression of emotions.

I had a course of CBT Counselling with The Harley Psychology & Therapy Group (Richmond) and although it didn’t provide me with the quick fix miracle solution I was hoping for, it has made my problems feel more manageable.
