I feel strongly about the importance of the relationship between therapist and client, and using this to create a safe reflective space which can enable change. I work in a collaborative, non-judgmental way, and believe that while I have training and resources, the client is the expert in their own experiences, so we can come together to overcome problems and build resilience.
I want to help people rediscover what they value from life, and help them to take steps to thrive, and not just survive.
I am a passionate Clinical Psychologist with years of experience of working in NHS mental health services. I have worked in services across the lifespan and ability range, including with children, families, adults, older adults, people with neurological problems and people with physical health conditions.
I like to use a person-centred approach to work with clients on an individual basis depending on their needs, drawing from multiple models such as CBT, behavioural therapy, solution-focused therapy, motivational interviewing and systemic theory. I am also passionate about third-wave therapeutic approaches, including compassion-focused therapy and acceptance & commitment therapy, as well and mindfulness and meditation. I am also trained to carry out neuropsychological and cognitive assessments.
I have worked with a range of difficulties, including low mood, anxiety, self-criticism, self-esteem, OCD, anger, phobias and sleep. I am used to working in a systemic way, helping people with interpersonal problems, parenting and social difficulties.
I am motivated by helping people to reach their goals, and live a life that they value and is meaningful to them. I am grateful that people trust me with their thoughts and feelings, and it is a privilege to be able to work with them to overcome difficulties and challenges.
I enjoy spending time with friends and family, watching films, cooking and reading. I also try to use my spare time being creative, and use my (developing!) calligraphy skills to make birthday cards for people.
I had a course of CBT Counselling with The Harley Psychology & Therapy Group (Richmond) and although it didn’t provide me with the quick fix miracle solution I was hoping for, it has made my problems feel more manageable.
