Philosophy

I believe that everyone has the potential to create a life that they value, but challenging experiences can sometimes leave us feeling stuck. I understand behaviours to serve a function, i.e. to coping with challenging emotions, but sometimes these behaviours move us away from the life we want and are no longer effective for us. We can often get stuck in a cycle of negative thought and behavioural patterns that shape our perception, emotions, and experiences, making it harder for us to make changes in our lives. Understanding our experience and challenging our thoughts and behaviours, can help us break out of these patterns, allowing us to build the life that we strive to live.

Approach

The therapeutic alliance is at the core of my practice, and I believe in the importance of building a trusting and safe environment to help you understand and change your experience. I understand that change can be difficult, so I approach therapy with a non- judgmental, open and empathic style. I value client-informed care and as such will work with you in collaboratively formulating your experience and creating a treatment plan that well endeavour to help you achieve your therapy goals.
As a Clinical and Counselling psychologist, my practice is driven by evidence-based treatments. I have training in a range of therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectic Behavioural
Therapy (DBT) and Unified Protocol (UP) while also being guided by principles of behavioural therapy, mindfulness and solution focused therapy. Due to the broad range of therapy models I draw on, I am able to tailor therapy to best suit your needs and
therapy goals. I am also confident working therapeutically with neurodiversity and I am trained in ADHD and autism assessment. I have experience working with clients from diverse backgrounds and am sensitive to the role that cultural identity, gender, race and sexual orientation may have on a person’s experience.
I have great experience with working with a wide range of different presenting problems in children, adolescents and adults such as, but not limited to, ADHD, anxiety, autism, attachment, anger, depression, low self-esteem, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), panic attacks, parenting challenges, perfectionism , relationship difficulties, sleep disorders, social difficulties, and stress and burnout.

Motivation

I believe that everyone has the capacity for growth and change, and I find it incredibly rewarding to help people navigate their struggles, gain insight, and develop the tools they need to thrive. Being a part of a person’s journey in achieving their goals and/or creating a life that they want, reinforces my passion for psychology every day.

About Me

I grew up in Australia and moved to England as an adult. When I am not working, I love spending time outdoors, travelling with family and friends, listening to new music and trying new recipes (with a 50% success rate so far!).

I had a course of CBT Counselling with The Harley Psychology & Therapy Group (Richmond) and although it didn’t provide me with the quick fix miracle solution I was hoping for, it has made my problems feel more manageable.
