The professional responsibility of caring for others presents both intellectual and emotional challenges and these are sometimes hard to balance with the demands of a personal life, often resulting in a negative impact on your mental health.

Not sure where to start?

Who Can Counselling Help?

Do you sometimes find it hard to balance your professional and personal responsibilities?
Do you find yourself working longer hours than you would like in order to meet your professional responsibilities?
Do you no longer enjoy your job? Do you no longer enjoy your time away from work?
Do you feel anxious and/or depressed?
Do you often feel angry at the demands that are placed on you either at work or at home or both?
Do you find it hard to switch off from work?
Do you wish that you could change career or take an extended break?
Do you feel that you shouldn’t need counselling because you are a doctor or healthcare professional?

If you have answered ‘yes’ to any of these questions you may benefit from our counselling services to help you to re-balance the professional and personal demands that you face.

What Does Treatment Involve?

Step 1

You will start by meeting with one of our Therapists in order to clarify what you would like to stay the same, what you would like to change and what practical and psychological obstacles you might encounter. Your Therapist will also ask you some more general questions about your professional and personal life in order to individually tailor a therapy programme to you.

Step 2

Your Therapist will then guide you towards your goals using a series of techniques to identify and eliminate obstacles to change, implement changes and preserve those aspects which you wish to preserve.

Step 3

Alongside this your Therapist provide support to help you to reduce any symptoms of anxiety and depression and teach you strategies to ensure that this reduction endures over the longer term.

Step 4

Once you feel that your responsibilities are balanced and any anxiety and depression alleviated your Therapist will help you to identify the factors that have resulted in the development of your initial difficulties and arm you with strategies to prevent this happening again in the future.
