Counselling for Abuse

Abuse can take many forms: physical violence, sexual, emotional and psychological and it can affect men, women and children. Each victim may experience a varying degree of abuse, but all abuse has a devastating effect on the victim’s mental health.

Who Can Abuse Counselling Help?

Have you or are you currently being mistreated by someone?
Do you experience verbal abuse in your relationship?
Do you feel like a partner is trying to control you?
Are you unable to protect yourself from the abuse you are suffering?
Do you feel that you are partly responsible for the abuse you have suffered?
Have you tried to tell people about the abuse but no one understands or is listening?
Are you too afraid to tell anyone about the abuse?

If you have answered ‘yes’ to one of more of these questions you may benefit from our counselling services.

Supporting You

What Does Treatment Involve?

Step 1

One of our Therapists will meet with you to find out more about your situation. You will not be asked to share any information that you do not feel comfortable sharing and all of the details that you share will be confidential.

Step 2

Your Therapist will then discuss with you what you would like to get from your counselling experience so that they can make sure that they provide the best support possible.

Step 3

If your abuse is ongoing your Therapist will support you to make the decisions and take the action that you need to take to protect yourself.

Step 4

Your Therapist will then help you to process your abuse in a way that allows it to remain in the past and no longer influence your current experiences, choices and how you feel about yourself.
